Wiregrass Daily News met with Beverly Lampkin, a candidate running for the Dothan City Schools Board of Education in District 5. With a strong background in education, Lampkin is focused on bridging the gap between the community and the school board, while serving as a dedicated advocate for both students and staff in the district. Her campaign centers on key priorities such as student and teacher retention, improved discipline practices, and greater transparency within the school system. Lampkin also emphasizes the importance of investing in students and providing robust support for educators to ensure their success in the classroom. A core component of her platform is the creation of clear and diverse pathways to help students pursue their goals, whether academic, vocational, or otherwise. Lampkin’s vision is to make Dothan City Schools a first-class school system, recognized for its excellence and commitment to student achievement. Through proactive leadership and strengthened community partnerships, she aims to drive meaningful progress across District 5 and the broader school district.

Wiregrass Daily News caught up with Dothan United Soccer this morning as Team Captain #23 Will Noecker and Aaron McCreight stopped by to preview this weekend’s home match against Columbus United. After a road win earlier in the season, the Dragons are expecting a determined Columbus side looking for payback at Rip Hewes Stadium.
The match also marks Youth Sports Night, with free admission for kids who wear their own team jerseys — a perfect outing for families and young athletes across the Wiregrass.
Will highlighted the importance of building strong community ties through fan interaction, which fuels the team’s energy on the pitch and enhances the matchday atmosphere.
Dothan United welcomes everyone to come out and enjoy the experience, hoping even non-soccer fans will leave as a new Dragon fan.
